Internship Week 4

6. Describe your POL preparation process. What presentation tools are you planning to use? Are you relying on notes, a memorized talk, something else? How are you preparing for questions you might be asked? What are you planning to wear?

After having experienced the environment for almost five years dating back to my time in High Tech Middle. I will approach this the same I always have. Having all my notes gathered and going through it again and that is what I will base my powerpoint off of. I am planning to use a powerpoint because I find it to be the most simple and effective way to present what I've experienced during internship. I will also be using note cards during my presentation as a reference point to help me get organized on what I want to say. The way I am going to prepare for questions is that I am going to write down every possible question that I can think of and have a pre determined answered to it and have practice sessions with the other interns here from different schools, who might be new to POL's. Since it is a presentation of learning I am planning to wear something very professional such a a long white sleeved shirt with a black tie and black dress pants.

Internship Week 3

1. Choose your favorite photos from your photo essay—post these highlight photo and a caption explaining what we see and what makes this significant to you.

This picture is the title of my project. This is the actual packet that establishes the guidelines and responsibilities I have for the project. The photo is significant to me because this is my main purpose of working in this internship is because of this project. The final product I create will be an updated web page about there community partnership. Also it to create a simple presentation format video explaining what community partnership is and how it will benefit the San Diego Media Arts Center. The picture stands out to me because of it sums up what I am working on at my internship. I am helping with the community partnership and the San Diego Latino Film Festival.

6. What are you thankful for in your internship experience?

I am thankful for the overall experience I have received so far from internship. It opened my eyes and changed my perspective on what it feels like to do a real job and get paid. I noticed that it gets very tedious and repetitive, but all the hard work pays off in the end. I am also thankful for the people I work with because they are always there for me making sure I feel comfortable and having a good experience. Over this week I've grew a good relationship with all the people I work with and I am thankful for that.

Internship Week 2

What is the biggest challenge face at your internship?
My biggest challenge that I have faced at internship is adjusting to the types of tasks they ask me to do for them. I go back and forth throughout the facility whether I'm at the front desk being the receptionist, at my computer fulfilling simple tasks like advertising or in the back filing, organizing, making copies. I am constantly working making sure that the task I am given are fully completed. I think that this challenge helps me prepare for the future whether it's at school or having a job. I will always encounter challenges and getting used to being in those type of situations will help.

How do you see your role at your internship?
My role at my internship is to be help in any way I can, according to my skills. An example is my computer skills. I do tasks on the computer such as post advertisements on various websites to help promote their workshops and events. This is a role I don't mind doing because I enjoy using photoshop and other software to create fliers, but I want to learn more about video editing. Hopefully I will be able to achieve that in the upcoming weeks. The photo is an example of the type of fliers and advertisements I have to create.

Internship Week #1

What are you excited about, nervous about and wondering about?

I am excited for the opportunity to be able to experience an actual working environment. It's going to be challenging but also a learning experience. Knowing this makes me nervous because I want to leave a good first impression to my colleagues showing them I am capable of being responsible and a hard worker. I am wondering about what will I learn from this internship. I have various questions that will hopefully get answered. Some questions is will I figure out what I want to pursue as a career? Will I learn new things to apply to my work ethic?

Describe the project you'll do at internship, including the skills and technology you need to do it and what you hope your project looks like as a final product.

A project that me and my mentor talked about is involving me editing various videos that were submitted to them for the Latino Film Festival. I can use the videos to create a montage or a promo that can be used on youtube to help advertise the event. I hope that this project will look very professional and will actually be used to advertise the Latino Film Festival because it will showcase my video editing skills.
